The 2013 erotic thriller, which just hit Netflix today, began its life with lots of promise, namely because it was blessed with a terrific pedigree; it was penned by Bret Easton Ellis (American Psycho, Less Than Zero) and directed by Paul Schrader (American Gigolo). On top of that, the film was one of Kickstarter’s earliest success stories, with fans kicking in some $160,000 to see this film that ultimately starred a (seemingly) post-trainwreck Lindsay Lohan and porn star James Deen. However, the film was sunk before the public even saw a single frame of footage, thanks to a disastrous PR blunder by the film’s producers. They invited a New York Times reporter named Stephen Rodrick to the set, which resulted in one of the most fascinating showbiz feature pieces of the last few years, entitled “Here Is What Happens When You Cast Lindsay Lohan In Your Movie.”
